Matt Blyth | Porsche Carrera Cup GB
Matt Blyth will race in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB during rounds seven and eight of the season at Thruxton over the weekend of 17/18 May. The former Caterham racer has been working hard to raise a budget to join the series and in recognition of his efforts he has been offered the chance to race the PCGB entry in the pro-am2 category.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to get back out there and show what I can do, and it's my home circuit as well," said the Wokingham racer. "Hopefully this will lead to me getting out for selected races over the second half of the season. Then we plan to work for a full season in 2009." Earlier in the year, Blyth drove the car during the Carrera Cup 'sampler day' at Snetterton and will now get the chance to race at a circuit he knows well. "I work at Thruxton as an instructor and I probably work here for 50 or 60 days a year," he said. "I've always gone well at Thruxton; it's a good track to me. This is just a chance to see how we get on. It's an excellent opportunity that Porsche has given me and I'm really grateful that they have put me out in the car."
